Activity plus Busy-ness does not equal Progress (A + B ≠ P)
This little pearler compliments of a participant on a Vancouver workshop recently and we think it is a gem. It gets to the heart of what we talk about in our business when we make a distinction between ‘apparent’ and ‘actual’ or role effectiveness. This is a distinction worth keeping in mind when assessing the contribution of team members.
We often reward activity and busy-ness rather than the delivery of measurable outputs. And in terms of personal application how often do we con ourselves into thinking that we are making progress for no reason that that we are busy.
